Mabee at the Market
Coming this spring, Mabee at the Market—Allen Edgar Rogers’s follow-up to the delightful Mabee and the Gravy—is the next in a series about the precocious grade-schooler, Mabee, who learns to manage big feelings and anxiety while navigating life’s challenging situations.
When Austin, TX, was still a laid-back, taco-driven town, Allen Rogers lived in a basement room of a yellow house around the corner from Franklin Barbeque. It was then that he became a teacher and also wrote what would one day become Mabee and the Gravy. Inspired by kids he’d known and worked with, Mabee follows her hero’s journey, facing an issue she’s resistant to solving until circumstances force her out of her comfort zone and ultimately help her grow.
With stunning art by debut illustrator Whitney Hill, Mabee comes to life in vivid colors and imagery. With both dreamy and true-to-life backdrops, the reader is drawn into Mabee’s world and goes along with her as she makes a new friend, lets down her guard, and learns to love learning.
